Quality Bio Most media are buffered by acombination of sodium bicarbonate and an atmosphere enriched in CO2. The latter is usually provided through the use of a specialy equipped incubator. L-15 was developed at a time when such equipment was not readily available. Dr. Leibovitz developed a buffering system based on free base amino acids, inorganic salts and the substitution of galactose for glucose.
